Pilates, developed in the 1920's, is a style of exercise that utilizes a unique sequence of movements that work the mind and muscles in harmony.  Pilates focuses on 5 basic principles:

 

Concentration -

conscious control of movement enhances body awareness.
Control/Precision/Fluidity -  proper form and smooth continuous motion is required for safe, effective results.
 
Centering -  focusing on the body's 'core' (the pelvic girdle, abdominals, lower back and hips) improves efficiency of the rest of the body.

  5:30 - 6:15 pm
Available in 30 or 60 minute sessions.  Includes training on the Pilates Reformer, using spring resistance and body weight to complete advanced exercises
 
Thursday: 12:15 - 1:00 pm
 
Focus is on learning basic breathing
and movement principles.
